Sophie is a Level 4 Performance Coach, Sports Psychologist and LTA Tutor. Having played at National Level as a junior she currently still competes for both her club and county as well as individual events on the Seniors Tour. She has been teaching tennis for almost 20 years and has experience in all areas of the game from mini tennis through to performance juniors.
Having a Masters Degree in Sports Psychology she specialises in a hands on approach working closely with clients on their goals and expectations as well as their technical training. She currently works with some of the top juniors in the region and works for Surrey Tennis with the junior county teams. She specifically focuses on the under taught area of doubles and is passionate about teaching the tactics and strategies that makes doubles such a fun sport to play throughout your life.
Through her passion for doubles Sophie has developed a specialised doubles programme, S.C. Tennis Doubles School, for junior and recreational level. It focuses on correct positioning, court coverage and tactics that will help young and recreational players take their game to the next level. She teaches this to both her regular clients and also hosts one day clinics and 3 day training camps in The Algarve, Portugal. Sophie will also visit UK clubs to show players and coaches her method so that they can share and replicate within their club.
Sophie is also a Sports Psychologist and works with both academies and individuals on the mental approach to their game. She has written My Tennis Brain, a players journal for both practice and matches helping them take control of the mental challenges of tennis and benefiting both players, parents and coaches by providing a useful communication tool.
Sophie is a LTA qualified Tutor working alongside the LTA in coach education to help people start their coaching journey through their qualifications and also delivering the Coach Education Forums keeping current coaches up to date on all the latest news from the LTA.
Sophie is the She Rallies Ambassador for Surrey helping to grow the female workforce and creating more opportunities for girls to play, and stay in tennis. In her role as ambassador she trains other women in Judy Murray’s content for tennis and gives them the skills and confidence they need to deliver to girls in their local area.
